Botswana Equity Watch | 29 June 2015: Botswana equity market starts the week up 14.78 points
Gaborone, Botswana (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Botswana domestic composite index gained 0.14 percent to close at BWP 10,625.08 up 14.78 points from its last close of BWP 10,610.30.
The foreign composite index, however, saw a downward change of 0.02 percent closing at 1,571.82 points losing -0.35 points on the previous days close. The Local Asset Sector Index (LASI) remained fairly unchanged closing 796.60 down 0.01 percent from its previous close of 796.71. (LASI is made up of the domestic companies and all foreign companies awarded the local asset status by the Ministry of Finance and development planning.)
Likewise, the equity market capitalization settled at BWP 420,818 billion.
From the market activity viewpoint, the daily volume and turnover settled at 1.2 Million shares traded at a value of BWP 2,690 Million. CHOPPIES 320 traded shares at BWP 1,532.80 turnover, LETSHEGO ended with 537,034 traded securities at BWP 1,718,508.80 turnover and FNBB with a market capitalisation of 10,049.70 had 1,570 securities at BWP 6,170.10 turnover.
Looking at the price movers’, CHOBE gained BWP 1.0 to close the day at BWP 5,680, FSG saw a 4 point rise to end at BWP 260 and STANCHART surged by BWP 1 to settle at BWP 1267. On the other side, in the Foreign companies index NEWGOLD rose by BWP 110 to settle with a closing price of BWP 11150 and BETTABETA plummeted by 100 POINTS to conclude at 1080.
